The Government of Tamil Nadu, on August 28, 2026, notified the crop calendar and harvesting period for Greengram for implementation of the Price Support Scheme (PSS) during the Kharif Marketing Season 2026–27. The notification is issued in accordance with the revised PSS operational guidelines of the Government of India and provides the basis for the State’s procurement proposal.
The notified sowing period is April–September, with harvesting from mid-August to December and commencement of arrivals from mid-August. The expected procurement quantity is 1,562 MT, representing 25% of expected Kharif production. The scheme is proposed in two phases: Phase I from August 15 to November 13, 2026 covering Salem, Namakkal, Vellore, Ranipet and Nagapattinam; and Phase II from October 1 to December 29, 2026 covering Dharmapuri, Madurai, Krishnagiri, Virudhunagar, Erode, Tirupathur, Thiruvannamalai, Theni, Thiruvallur and other specified districts.
The notification is intended to facilitate procurement of Greengram under the PSS linked to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) framework, providing a stable price mechanism for farmers during the Kharif season. The specified crop calendar, harvesting period, procurement quantity and district-wise implementation periods will govern the proposed procurement programme for 2026–27.
